Hyundai is once again re-writing the rulebooks in the U.S. auto market. While other brands continue to offer complimentary satellite-radio subscriptions for their vehicles, Hyundai will up the ante by catering to customers wherever they can connect to the Internet—with a free, three-month subscription to SiriusXM All Access.
The subscription delivers the same in-car listening experience as a standard SiriusXM plan, but adds premium channels from the likes of Oprah and Howard Stern, coverage of all NFL/MLB/NHL games as well as all NASCAR races, and the ability to listen to the full suite of SiriusXM Latino stations.. The new offering will blend seamlessly with Hyundai’s currently available infotainment technologies to allow users to control their audio choices using touchscreen and/or natural voice control.
Perhaps even better, though, is the fact that SiriusXM All Access also includes Sirius Internet Radio. As a result, listeners will be able tune into their favorite channels from their desktop or laptop computers, compatible iPhones/iPads/iPods, and a wide selection of Android-based phones and other smart devices.
“Hyundai’s offer of an enhanced SiriusXM subscription is a great benefit to new Hyundai owners, offering a variety of premium content as well as convenient access to SiriusXM Internet Radio,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, corporate and product planning, Hyundai Motor America.
According to O’Brien, the new program is part and parcel of Hyundai’s efforts to set the pace in terms of customer satisfaction: “It’s not just about doing more research,” he explained. “It’s about doing smarter research that listens to the consumer and delivers an automobile with an overall package and design that meets their needs before they’re even able to precisely articulate what they want.”
