“Like an adolescent outgrowing that gawky stage and becoming a runway-worthy young adult, the Accent has shed its econobox self to become a real stunner,” according to the motoring mavens at Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com. Which helps explain why the Accent also has become one of KBB.com’s 10 Best Back-to-School Cars for 2012.
Further helping matters, according to the website, “2012 marked an all-new Accent sedan and hatchback with fresh sheetmetal, more power and even better fuel economy.” Thus, the brand’s latest “fluidic sculpture” design language now encases a peppy 1.6-liter I4 engine that supplies 138 hp and 123 lb.-ft. of torque—and best-in-class EPA marks of 30 mpg city/40 mpg highway with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a similarly cogged manual.
KBB.com singled out the Accent’s extensive warranty program for praise as well, showing customers aren’t the only ones taking notice of Hyundai coverage that includes:
- 5 years/60,000 miles worth of New Vehicle Limited Warranty
- 10 years/100,000 miles of Limited Powertrain protection
- Anti-perforation protection that lasts 7 years with no mileage disclaimer
- 24-hour roadside assistance for 5 years, also with unlimited mileage
“Accent exemplifies the quality, reliability and value that young car shoppers are looking for,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, for Hyundai Motor America. “With advanced technology, stylish design and spectacular fuel economy, the Accent is a great option for students and parents alike.”
